The Gift of Sight
One of the many things that architects do is to observe. We are trained to look at details from the most minute building element and specific hue of color to a broader view of surrounding and place. With this lens, we are able to quickly and deeply surmise existing conditions and their impact on how people interact and will potentially engage within spaces so that we can protect their health, safety and welfare. It is our call, professional obligation, client expectation and critical part of our DNA.

Historic Coliseum Receives 2025 Minneapolis Preservation Award
The Historical Coliseum Building recently received the 2025 Minneapolis Preservation Award for the “Adaptive Reuse that honors that building’s original design while supporting contemporary community needs in a neighborhood affected by systemic inequalities.”
The Hope of Legacy
As I reflect on this past year, it has been one of tremendous growth and celebration. Moving our practice into a 100 plus year building that was once set afire from the uprisings in 2020 and now listed in the National Registry of Historic Places is truly a testament of beauty from ashes.

The newly opened Historic Coliseum Building is a space for the community. Reflecting on the elaborate process to get the funding needed to refurbish the building, there is abundant gratitude for the multiple lenders and grantors who not only believed in the project.
