“The Master’s Plan”

Pilgrim Baptist Church is Minnesota’s first African American church founded in 1863. The existing church building was built in the 1920s and had many unique characteristics to overcome. Thorough the years, the church grew into a four- story structure with limited means of accessibility. We prepared a Master Plan to strategically design for future growth for worship, education and fellowship as well as eliminate the physical barriers.  The new portion of the building has connected all levels of the church and provided a light filled structure for gathering and wayfinding. Posed for growth, this addition seamlessly unites the existing historical structure and prepares a path for their next season.
